Import New Objectives and Key Results or Update Existing Data

Updated this week

HR teams can save time and reduce repetitive work by importing objectives in bulk or updating existing ones, instead of entering them manually for each employee.

🧾 Prepare Your Template for Objective Import

  1. Download the template to your computer and use it as a reference. (This sample is for reference only.)

2. Update the template by adding column names that match your platform’s fields.

3. Fill in the template:

  • Objective name – The name of your objective. It should be clear, inspiring, and specific.

  • Objective description – A detailed description of the objective: why it matters and what you aim to achieve.

  • Tags – Keywords or labels for categorizing objectives (e.g., "Q3", "Sales", "Strategic").

  • Email/Employee ID – The email or ID of the employee who owns this objective.

  • Starts on – Start date of the objective (MM-DD-YYYY format).

  • Ends on – End date of the objective (MM-DD-YYYY format).

  • State – The current state of the objective, such as Open, overdue, closed, or archived.

  • Parent objective (optional) - The name of the parent objective, if this one is part of a broader goal.

  • Parent objective Owner Email/Employee ID - Email or ID of the owner of the parent objective.

Key Results – What to Know When Importing

If your objective doesn’t have key results, you can leave those fields empty or delete them from the import file.

If one objective has several key results (e.g., 3 or 4), repeat the Objective name in each row for every KR.

Here’s how to fill out each field:

  • Key result name 1 – The name of the key result (e.g., Increase response rate, Close 10 deals).

  • Key result metric 1 – The type of value used to measure progress. It can be:

    • Number (e.g., 50 )

    • Percentage (e.g., 75 )

    • Currency (e.g., USD, EUR)

    • Boolean – In the system, this appears as Completed / Incomplete, but in the import template, select Boolean as the metric type and leave the start and target fields blank.

  • Key result currency code 1 – Use this only if your metric is Currency (e.g., USD, EUR). Leave it blank for all other metric types.

  • Key result start 1 – The current value when you’re creating the key result. For example, if you're already 87% done, enter 87.

  • Key result target 1 – The final value you want to reach.

  • Key result owner 1 Email/Employee ID) – The email or employee ID of the person responsible for this KR.

This format helps the system correctly link and track each key result to its objective.

📤 Import the data

  1. Go to Settings > Import.

  2. Choose Objectives as the import type.

3. Upload your completed template.

4. Ensure all columns are auto-mapped correctly. Manually map any unmapped columns.

5. Preview your data, then click Import to complete the process.

✅ The system will automatically validate each row. Any cells with invalid data will be highlighted in red—fix these in your file and re-import as needed.
