In PeopleForce you can configure holidays. But there are two types:
🎉 Workday holidays
These are days marked in the calendar as holidays, but they are not days off.
Example: company anniversary, Programmer’s Day, Lawyer’s Day, QA Day.
On these days everyone works as usual, the date is simply marked as festive.
🌙 Non‑working holidays (days off)
These are days when employees rest.
For each such holiday you can configure:
date;
name;
moving the day off;
moving the working day.
How to add a workday holiday to the company calendar
Sometimes companies celebrate special dates (e.g. Programmer’s Day or company anniversary), while keeping them as working days. Such days can be added to the calendar as workday holidays. You need to complete the following steps:
Go to the Holiday policies section.
Select the policy to which you want to add a new holiday.
Click + New holiday.
In the settings, choose type Workday holiday.
Specify the date and name of the holiday.
Save changes.
How it works:
All employees assigned to this holiday policy will see the new holiday in the company calendar.
The day will appear as festive, but remain a working day.
How holiday shifting works
🟢 Shifting a day off
Used when a holiday falls on a weekend.
Example: Easter always falls on a Sunday and Monday automatically becomes a day off.
That is, the holiday itself is not moved: the system simply adds another day off.
🟡 Shifting a working day
This is used when a company wants to create “long weekends”.
Example: if a holiday falls on a Thursday, the company can give Friday off, but make up that working day on Saturday. In the calendar, Saturday will be shown as a working day.
How to configure:
Go to Holiday Policies.
Choose the policy where you want to make changes.
Click + New holiday.
Set the date of the original holiday.
Check the “Shift working day” option.
Select the date which will become a working day instead.
⚠️ Important: if an employee takes a vacation on that Saturday, the system will count it as 1 day of leave.
Example
Scenario: a holiday falls on Wednesday, but the company wants to make a three‑day weekend (Friday + Saturday + Sunday).
Solution in the system:
Mark Wednesday as a workday holiday (i.e. everyone works, but the date is festive).
Mark Friday as a non‑working holiday.
This way employees get three consecutive days off, and the calendar displays it correctly.
Why it's important?
Employees immediately see in the calendar which days are working and which are days off.
No confusion with vacations: if a day is working, it will be deducted from the vacation balance.
All holiday shifts are transparent and clear.
