Import for salary and additional compensation history

Updated over 3 weeks ago

HR teams can save time and avoid repetitive tasks by importing salary and compensation records in bulk, rather than entering data manually for each employee.

Prepare your template for salary import

  1. Download the template to your computer and use it as a reference. (This sample is for reference only.)

2. Update the template by adding column names that match your platform’s fields.

3. Fill in the template:

  • Employee ID: Use the employee’s company number or a sequential number in your import file (text or number format, field name id2).

  • Effective from: The date when the salary or compensation amount becomes valid. This marks the start of a new salary level.

  • Amount: The value of the compensation (salary). This is typically the gross monthly pay.

  • Currency: The currency in which the compensation is paid (e.g. USD, EUR, PLN).

  • Per: The time unit for the amount. If it's "Month", meaning the salary is monthly.

  • Pay schedule: Defines how often the employee is paid (e.g. Monthly, one-time, weekly).

  • Overtime: Indicates whether overtime is applicable for this salary record.

  • Comment : A free-text field for notes or context about the salary change (e.g. promotion, role change, career path change).

Prepare your template for additional compensation history import

  1. Download the template to your computer and use it as a reference. (This sample is for reference only.)

2. Update the template by adding column names that match your platform’s fields.

3. Fill in the template:

  • Employee ID: Use the employee’s company number or a sequential number in your import file (text or number format, field name id2).

  • Compensation_type: The category of compensation (e.g. Bonus, Commission, Allowance). Describes what kind of extra payment it is.

  • Description: A short explanation or note about the compensation (e.g. "Year-end bonus", "Referral bonus").

  • Type: Specifies whether the compensation is a one-time or recurring payment.

  • Frequency: Indicates how often the compensation is paid (e.g. One-time, Monthly, Quarterly, Annually).

  • Starts on: The start date when the compensation is active or begins to apply.

  • Ends on: The end date when the compensation stops applying. Leave blank if it’s ongoing.

Import the data

  1. Go to Settings > Import.

  2. Choose Salary or Additional compensation history as the import type.
