Custom fields for assets

Learn how to create the assets field and use them to monitor extra details about company assets

Updated over a week ago

Similar to how employee custom fields work, users now have the ability to create different types of fields to keep track of relevant data for assets. With the addition of custom asset fields, companies can now monitor extra details, like the asset's condition (New, used, needs repair), year of manufacture, photos, cost, and more, beyond the limited default fields. This enhancement in tracking capabilities allows users to efficiently capture and handle diverse information, enhancing overall asset management.

Adding the assets field

In the HR settings, a new tab called "Assets Fields" has been added. While there are initially predefined fields available, users have the flexibility to customize their asset form based on specific requirements. To add a custom field, click the "Add" button, fill in the necessary information like name and field type. Enable or disable fields, edit their details, and delete them as needed.

⚠️ You might not be able to disable or delete some of the already existing asset fields.

Filling out details in the assets form

After adding all the required fields, navigate to the 'Assets' section, click on '+New asset,' and proceed to fill in all the necessary fields.

The finalized form will be displayed as follows:

To edit the form, click on the three dots and enter the required information for the respective asset.

Asset assignment

To assign the asset, click the "Assign" button, choose the appropriate employee from the drop-down menu, set the starting date, and save the changes.

In the Assignment widget, the employee to whom this asset is assigned will be displayed. Click "See all" to review the history of assignments.
