Nomination and approval of colleagues for peer review

Learn how to assign colleagues for review and how a manager can approve or reject the nominated candidates

Updated this week

If your cycle includes a Peer party, the next step after the review starts is to nominate and approve peer reviewers.

While creating a cycle, you can choose one of the three selection methods:

  • Employees themselves nominate colleagues who will review them. In this case, you can enable obligatory confirmation of nominated peers by the employee's manager or review creator (considered as HR)

  • Only the employee's manager or review creator (considered as HR) assigns peers

  • Only the review creator (considered as HR) assigns peers

Employees nominate peers

If the 'Employees nominate peers' option is set, each employee chooses colleagues from whom they want to receive feedback. To do it, the employee must complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Performance > Review > My or click Nominate peers in the To-dos section on the Home page.

  2. In the Review cycle to-dos list, find the Nominate your peers section.

  3. In the corresponding field, select 3-5 colleagues you interact with the most in your work processes and who can provide a useful and objective assessment of your performance.

  4. Click Submit my peers when the selection is done.

💡 The selected peers must then be approved by the employee's manager or review creator (considered as HR) if the option 'Require managers or HR to approve nominations' is selected in the review cycle settings.

Manager or HR approval of peers

A manager can access the approving menu in 2 ways:

  • Click Approve peers in the To-do's section on the Home page

  • Go to Performance > Review > My > Manage peer nominations

An HR needs to complete the following steps to approve any employee's peers:

  1. Open Performance > Review > Company.

  2. Find the required review cycle and open it.

  3. Click the progress bar in the 'Submitted reviews' column.

  4. In the new tab, approve or decline peers.

💡 If the manager deletes nominated reviewers, they will be skipped. HR can also delete reviewers, but can add anyone in their place.

Only the managers or HR select peers

If the corresponding option is selected, the employee's manager or HR, who creates the review cycle or manages all review cycles, must assign peers.

A manager needs to go to Performance > Review > My. In the Review cycle to-dos list, they need to find the Submit peer nominations section (or open the Peer nomination tab) and select as many employees as they want. When the list is ready, they can use the corresponding button to submit peers.

An HR needs to open Performance > Review > Company, find the required cycle, and open it. When they click the progress bar in the 'Submitted reviews' column, a tab opens where they can select as many employees as they want and submit them as peers.

Only HR selects peers

HR, who creates the review cycle or can manage all review cycles, can assign peers in the Performance > Review > Company tab. After opening the relevant review cycle and clicking the progress bar in the 'Submitted reviews' column, a tab opens allowing them to select and submit as many peers as needed.

🎉 Once peers are nominated and approved, they receive notifications about the need to complete the review.
