Submit overtime request

Updated this week

If your company uses overtime tracking, you can submit an overtime request for extra hours. Overtime is tracked separately from regular working hours, and each request includes a comment explaining the reason. After you submit it, the request goes to your approver(s), and you’ll see its status in Attendance.

ℹ️ Overtime requests are available only if overtime tracking is enabled for your Attendance policy.

There are two ways to submit an overtime request:

  • Create a request manually when you know the exact date and time you worked overtime.

  • Submit a request from a detected overtime prompt when the system notices your time entry exceeds your expected hours.

✏️ If your workspace uses projects, make sure you select the correct project in the overtime request before submitting.

Submit a separate overtime request

  1. Open Attendance from the left menu.

  2. Make sure you are in the My view.

  3. Click the Overtime request in the top-right corner.

  4. In the Overtime request window:

    • Choose the date you worked extra hours,

    • Specify the time range that was outside your regular working hours (based on your work pattern),

    • Add a comment with a short explanation (for example, why the overtime was needed or any context the approver should know).

  5. Submit the request.

What happens next:

  • The overtime request is sent to approvers.

  • You can see the overtime request in your daily time entries with a status (for example, Pending or Approved once confirmed).

Request overtime when the system detects additional hours

When you save a time entry, the system detects that the entered time exceeds your expected working hours (based on your work pattern). In this case, PeopleForce shows an Additional hours detected message and offers a Request overtime action.

If your entered working time exceeds your expected hours (based on your work pattern), the system shows a warning.

To submit overtime from this prompt:

  1. Click Request overtime.

  2. The system suggests the overtime time range based on the extra hours detected.

  3. Add your comment and submit.

Track the status of your overtime

When a decision is made, you’ll receive a notification. Open the specific day in Attendance to see the Overtime entry with its status (for example, Pending or Approved).
