Connect Microsoft Teams to post company updates to your Teams channels and send people personal notifications from the PeopleForce app in Teams. The integration offers daily summaries and kudos for companies that work in Microsoft Teams.
📌 The integration is in beta. If Microsoft Teams isn't listed under Settings → Integrations, contact us at support@peopleforce.io to request access.
Before you start
You need a Microsoft Teams directory administrator to approve access for your organisation.
The PeopleForce app must be available in your organisation's Teams app catalog. Your Teams app policies must not block it.
Connect Microsoft Teams
Go to Settings → Integrations and, under Productivity, select Microsoft Teams.
Select Install. You're taken to Microsoft.
Sign in with a Microsoft administrator account and accept the permissions. PeopleForce asks to:
read users, to match people by email
read the app catalog
install the PeopleForce app for users and teams
read basic team and channel details, for choosing channels
You're returned to PeopleForce, and the status changes to Installed. The Teams automations section now appears on the page.
Set up channel posts (Teams automations)
In the Teams automations section, select New automation and choose what to post:
Daily summary: who's on leave, birthdays, work anniversaries, newcomers and public holidays.
Post: kudos and polls.
Event: new hires, people leaving and profile updates.
Then pick the channels to post to and, for daily summaries, when to post. Channels are listed as Team name > Channel name. Private and shared channels aren't available, because Teams doesn't allow apps to post there.
Test before you go live. Select Test on an automation to send a test message to its channels. If it works, you'll see "Test message sent to configured channels." If it doesn't, check the connection and the channel you chose.
✨ For example, many companies set up two automations:
a Daily summary in a general company channel every weekday morning, so everyone knows who's away and whose birthday or anniversary it is;
a Kudos post in the same channel, so recognition is shared as soon as it's given.
Days with nothing to report are skipped, so the channel doesn't fill up with empty summaries. Channel posts use your company's default language.
What people receive in Teams
Once connected, people get personal messages from the PeopleForce app automatically:
Approvals: leave requests and other requests waiting for approval, and approval reminders. After the decision, the message updates to show Approved, Declined or Withdrawn.
Tasks: a task assigned to you, or a task you assigned that has been completed.
Mentions in notes, comments, objectives and candidate notes.
Kudos you've received.
1:1 meetings that are starting.
Surveys and reviews: surveys to complete, review cycles, reminders and peer nominations waiting for approval.
Nudges about tasks, surveys, timesheets, leave approvals and document signatures.
