How to Create a Development Plan

✅ From scratch

As a manager, you can create development plans for your direct reports.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the employee’s profile → Performance tab or Performance → Development plans.

  2. Click + Add or + New development plan.

  3. Fill in the plan name, date range, and type.

  4. Save the plan.

💡 Create a Plan Using a Template

You can start with a pre-built template to save time.

To do this:

  1. Go to the employee’s profile → Performance tab or open Performance → Development plans.

  2. Click + Add or + New development plan.

  3. A template library will open—select a template and click Use template.

  4. Fill in the key fields:

    • Title (can be edited)

    • Date range (defaults to 12 months, adjustable)

    • Type (choose or keep default)

  5. Edit as needed and save.

📌 Add Action Items

Track progress using action items inside the plan.

  • Add them using the toolbar or slash menu (/) in the editor.

  • Edits save automatically.

  • Use the Action Items tab to:

    • See current tasks

    • Search tasks

    • Show completed ones

  • A progress bar shows how much of the plan is done.

👀 Where to View Development Plans

As a manager, you can view your team’s development plans in two places:

  1. In each employee’s profile → Performance tab

  2. In Performance → Development Plans

In the Employee's profile plans are grouped into:

  • Open – active plans

  • Completed – finished ones

In the Development Plans page, you’ll see two tabs:

  • My team – all your direct reports’ plans

  • My – your own development plans

Each plan includes a progress bar to quickly check how much is done.
